Change in School start and ending times

posted Oct 10, 2018, 10:11 AM by Kimberly Ward

Due to recent instructional time missed for inclement weather, we will be adding 15 minutes to the school day to prepare our students to meet the necessary state requirements for promotion.

Effective November 1, 2018, students at Whiteville Primary School will begin school at 8:00 a.m. instead of 8:10 a.m. Students arriving after 8:00 a.m. will be considered tardy to school.

Also, students will be released at 2:50 p.m. instead of 2:45 p.m. Students who ride a school bus after school will still arrive at their destination at the same time. Car rider students will be approximately 5 minutes later.

Once again, beginning on Thursday, November 1, please note the changes to the instructional day at Whiteville Primary. Our new school hours are 8:00 a.m. – 2:50 p.m.

Thank you for making accommodations for the change in schedule. Please feel free to contact the school if you have a question about the change in schedule – Whiteville Primary School (910)642-4119.

To support our parents at home, a K-3 Literacy team has developed a new parental-engagement tip sheet to remind parents of the steps they can take to practice reading skills with students.   As soon as these arrive to school, we will send home with students.   There is also the NC Reads website, www.read.nc.gov, which provides additional tips and a list of reading programs across the state.
