To support our parents at home, a K-3 Literacy team has developed a new parental-engagement tip sheet to remind parents of the steps they can take to practice reading skills with students.   As soon as these arrive to school, we will send home with students.   There is also the NC Reads website, www.read.nc.gov, which provides additional tips and a list of reading programs across the state.

Kindergarten students completed pumpkin candy corn activities on a ten frame deciding ten
and some more. Mrs. Martin's class also carved a pumpkin and discussed sequence and senses. Obviously it was so much fun just from the looks on their faces.

Johnny Appleseed/Apple Unit

posted Oct 3, 2017, 2:13 PM by Kimberly Ward

This week the kindergarten classes celebrated the beginning of Fall by doing a study about apples and the famous Johnny Appleseed. Here is one of the activities from this week.
To conclude the Apple/Johnny Appleseed study, our kindergarteners did an Apple taste test. Each student was able to sample a red, yellow, and green apple. Then they discussed and graphed their favorites. Several students said they had never tried a green apple and nearly the whole class had not tried a yellow apple before! They really enjoyed this activity!
